The Otago Simulation Interest Group (OSIG) is a community of practice composed of a diverse group of healthcare professionals and simulation enthusiasts interested in simulation-based education as it relates to health. OSIG welcomes broad membership and includes healthcare professionals and simulation enthusiasts working in educational institutions and healthcare provider services.
The Otago Simulation Committee (OSC) is the governance group that supports OSIG and consists of 10 members, who have been profiled below and are available to connect with about simulation in the Otago/Southland region.
Purpose:
Lead, guide and advance simulation-based education, training, and scholarship.
Advance and sustain simulation as an education and training tool.
Provide a link between various simulation practitioners and departments within Health NZ, University of Otago, Otago Polytechnic, Hato Hone/St John, Mercy Hospital and other institutions and services within Otago.
Provide support and opportunity for ongoing simulation faculty development.
Develop simulation education that drives a culture of capability, builds an effective workforce, and focuses on improving health outcomes and patient safety.
Advance simulation as a quality improvement cycle tool that can evaluate processes and systems.
