Hello!
With a background of Critical Care nursing, I have moved increasingly into an educator role with Practice Development covering Critical Care, Resuscitation and Simulation.
I continue to develop and support simulation training as a way to consolidate clinical skills and knowledge, teach team work, crisis management and communication skills. I am also passionate about interprofessional engagement and have been working with representatives from the Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) school of nursing and the University of Otago to run regular interprofessional workshops with a strong simulation and communication component.
For several years I have been the clinical lead on a steering group to develop a purpose-built education centre and simulation suites at Southland Hospital. This was finally completed last year and it has been a great catalyst for expanding our educational opportunities and lifting the profile and engagement with simulation.
We plan to organise regional simulation group meetings that will help coordinate activities, rationalise resources and increase collaboration within simulation users. I welcome you to introduce yourself and share simulation opportunities within Southland and Otago.
